They concluded that oatmeal is one of the best options to start your day. The study was conducted among 36 participants who were divided into three groups.
Every participant from both groups had to consume around 350kcal for breakfast. The first group ate oatmeal, the second ate cornflakes, and the third one drank only water. All of them had the same lunch.
They wrote down their levels of satiety every three hours. They also had their blood analyzed for insulin and glucose levels.
The group which had oatmeal for breakfast ate 30% fewer calories for lunch and reported almost no cravings. Some of those people from that group were overweight, and they reported that they ate almost 50% fewer calories for lunch!
The group of people who consumed cornflakes reported being hungry after 2-3 hours. The group which drank only water reported the same thing.
This means that our bodies digest the oatmeal slowly and it stays in the body for a longer time.
This also means that besides keeping us full for a longer time, it can control the glucose levels. Therefore, we can conclude that oats are definitely the best option for a healthy breakfast.
